Enzyme Reactions - Enzyme & Substrate Concentration Flashcards
What happens during enzyme reaction with enzyme concentration?
as you increase the enzyme concentration, the rate of reaction increases
because there are more collisions between enzymes and substrate
more E-S complexes formed
if substrate runs out, adding more enzyme will makes no difference to the rate of reaction
What happens during enzyme reaction with substrate concentration?
as you increase the substrate concentration, the rate of reaction increases
because there are moree collisions between enzyme and substrates
more E-S complexes are formed until all the active sites are occupied
the enzyme concentration is the limiting factor and addming more substrate will make no difference
when substrate is all used up the rate of reaction will decrease
