Q

What is the difference between fly by and fly over waypoints?

Q

What is accelerate stop distance?

A

the distance required to accelerate to V1 with all engines at takeoff power, experience an engine failure just before V1, abort the takeoff and bring the airplane to a stop using only braking action without the use of reverse thrust.

Q

When do you need an alternate? And what are the requirements?

A

1-2-3 rule (if weather is forecasted to be less than 2000 ft ceilings or 3 SM visibility from 1 hour before to 1 hr after then an alternate is required to be filed); for an airport with a precision approach its required to be forecast 600-2 for a non precision 800-2; if no instrument approaches exist then it needs to be forecasted where you can descend from MEA to land.

A

FL290 - FL410; Reduced vertical separation minima - assigned altitudes separated by a minimum of 1,000 feet rather than the 2,000-foot minimum separation currently required above FL290

A

Utilizing all of our available resources in a timely manner during all phases of flight. Especially between the pilot and first officer.

24
Q

Tell me something about yourself that is not on your resume.

I love to challenge my brain. Whether that’s doing new projects around my house or learning how to garden and compost to grow my own fruits and vegetables.

25
Q

Tell me about yourself.

A

I love to be active - crossfit, soccer, tennis, hiking with my dog; gardening; movies; trying new foods; I’m very driven and ambitious and love to learn. I care a lot about people and love finding ways to make the world a better place for everyone

26
Q

Tell me about an emergency that you were involved in.

A

Losing the tachometer on the arrow. Wake turbulence on short final.

27
Q

What are two things that are important to you when working for an airline?

A

Culture (the people) and stability

28
Q

What do you expect out of a captain?

A

Someone who is knowledgeable about the airplane, experienced in all of the procedures and is a good leader and communicator. Hopefully someone I can learn from to one day be able to be a good captain myself.

29
Q

What is your greatest weakness?

A

I expect a lot from myself and can be overly critical of myself.

30
Q

What are your career goals?

A

First to be a great FO but one day to be a training captain in the airlines.

31
Q

What would you do if the captain doesn’t appear to be recognizing hold short instructions?

A

I would ask him if we were given permission to continue past the hold short line and if we have a different understanding of the instructions ask ATC to clarify.

32
Q

What’s important to you as a FO?

A

Learning as much as I can about the airplane, company procedures and being an effective crew member.

33
Q

What does the crew concept mean to you?

A

It means working together as a team to ensure a safe flight.

34
Q

Tell me about a time you had a problem at work.

A

Ricky at FlightSafety

35
Q

What will you do to be successful in training?

A

I would follow the study strategy that the instructor gives, study with others in my class and spend as much time as I can studying each day. And getting enough rest.

36
Q

What are your strengths?

A

I’m extremely hard working, humble and driven. I’m also very empathetic which I think could make a good leader.

37
Q

Tell me about a time you went above and beyond to help someone.

A

Oliver in instrument

38
Q

Tell me about a time you had to make a difficult decision as a pilot.

A

250 nm XC with Stephen when we had to divert to KAMA and ended up having to come back home because of a line of thunderstorms from Albuquerque all the way south to the coast

39
Q

Tell me a company procedure or reg you don’t agree with.

A

The shaving rule but I’ll always follow company procedures since they’re there for my safety.

40
Q

How do you adapt to change? And name a time you’ve had to adapt to change

A

I always try to understand what is causing the change. But that’s not always possible so I always change and influence the things I can and try to not dwell on the things I can’t change. Comm multi checkride having to change airplanes.

41
Q

What is the acronym for required documents needed onboard?

A

ARROWEC

42
Q

What aircraft does Envoy fly?

A

Embraer 145 and Embraer 170 and 175

43
Q

What is something you could improve on?

A

Trying not to do too much. I took on a lot while instructing to accomplish my goal to become an airline pilot but wished I’d enjoyed the journey more.

44
Q

What would you do if the captain wants to drop below the DA to try to see the runway?

A

We would have briefed it ahead of time so both of us would know the plan and know we need to go around unless he has sight of the approach lights or other things required under 91.175

45
Q

When would you take the controls from the captain?

A

If I see the captain’s control of the aircraft causes a serious doubt of safety I would intervene immediately

46
Q

Describe yourself in one word.

A

Driven

47
Q

Why should Envoy hire you?

A

I have worked hard to make sure I am the best pilot possible and I will always continue to learn to be the best pilot I can be. I’m professional, driven and will always look at coming to work here as a dream come true, not a job.

48
Q

How do you handle criticism?

A

Well, I always take it as an opportunity to learn. No matter how its presented I believe I can always learn from criticism or feedback.

49
Q

What traits are important in a captain?

A

Someone who stays calm under pressure, great communicator and an effective decision maker who knows his airplane and how to manage people.

50
Q

Who is the CEO of the company?

A

Pedro Fabregas

51
Q

How do you define professionalism?

A

Attitude, hard work, dedication and leadership

52
Q

What are Envoy’s bases?

A

DFW, Miami, Chicago, PHX

53
Q

What is V2?

A

Takeoff safety speed; v2 is the minimum speed that needs to be maintained up to acceleration altitude in the event of an engine failure after v1

54
Q

Youre at 29000 feet and 320 knots and told to cross a fix at 19000 feet and 250 knots, when do you start your descent?

A

37 NM. 29,000 - 19,0000 ft = 10,000 feet to lose. 10x3 =30 NM for 3 degree descent. If you need to reduce speed while descending, add 1 mile for every 10 KIAS you need to lose. In this scenario, you need to decrease from 320 to 250 KIAS. 320-250=70. 70~10=7 30 7 = 37 KM

55
Q

What are the holding speeds?

A

Up to 6,000 ft MSL: 200 KIAS. From 6,001 to 14,000 ft MSL: 230 KIAS. 14,001 ft MSL and above: 265 KIAS
