What are the causes effects and solutions of global warming?
- Causes;greenhouse effect, solar activity, natural climate change
- Effects;melting of sea ice, climate change so more floods and hurricanes, loss of animal habitats
- Solutions;higher fuel taxes, new energy sources, recycle, walking, planting more trees
What are scarce natural resources and the problems with them?
- Non renewable;coal, oil, gas, fossil fuels
- Renewable;wind, wave, solar, hydroelectric
- But these resources can be unreliable, low energy output, can’t store electricity that is produced
What are the solutions to pollution?
- Litter=better recycling, fines for litter
- Acid Rain=filter out harmful particles
- Radioactivity=better handling a and safety procedures
- Eutrophication=use organic fertilisers that won’t hurt the environment
What are the Christian attitudes to stewardship?
- God made the world so it is precious and we must not harm it
- God made us stewards-out job is to look after it as bible tells us
- Rest the land 7 years so don’t over exploit it
- Parable of sheep and goats tells us we should share resources with the poor
What do CAFOD do to help the environment?
- Live simply-only have what you need
- Live sustainabily-recycle and walk more
- Live in solidarity-think about how use of resources may affect others
What are the Muslim attitudes towards either environment?
- Khalifah;Muslims believe we are Khalifah (stewards of Allah’s creation), we have a duty too look after the world
- The Qur’an; “eat and drink but do not waste by being greedy”
- Balance; the world is an eco-system, we must maintain the care for the world
- Judgement; Muslims believe we will be judged on how well we cared for the environment
What has the Green Team USA done for the environment?
- Educate kids about conservation and saving water etc
- Sponsor production in organic cotton in Egypt
- Encourage recycling to save natural resources
- Encourage sustainability
What are the problems and solutions of infertility?
-Low self-esteem, depression, arguments, marital breakdown
-Artificial Insemination by husband
-Artificial Insemination by donor

What are the Christian attitudes towards infertility?
- Catholic; unfortunately not everyone gets the gift of children, maybe not in Gods plan for couple to have children, unused embryos get thrown away so it’s murder, involves masturbation which is a sin
- Protestant; everyone has a right to have children, adoption good, God gave us knowledge, infertility is an illness so IVF is healing
What are the Muslim attitudes towards infertility?
- Important to have kids
- Approve all treatments using husband and wife’s genetics but no to everything else it’s like adultery
- Only adopt within families
What are the arguments for transplant surgeries?
- Saves lives
- Brings life from death
- Organs will be wasted otherwise
- Can improve quality of life
What are the arguments against transplant surgery?
- Very expensive
- Encourages sale of organs by poor people
- Surgeones may be too keen to harvest and not fight to save lives of potential donors
What are the Christian attitudes towards transplant surgery?
YES-you don’t need organs when your dead
-Bible says ‘love your neighbour’
-Wrong to exploit poor so mustn’t buy from the poor
-God gave us science and skill so we should use this talent
NO-God decides when we should die
-Maybe a transplant surgery is not in Gods plan
-Swapping organs is like playing God
What are the Muslim attitudes towards transplant surgery?
NO-most opposed to this, Shari’ah says di not remove organs after death
-It’s like violating the human body
-Muslim scholars that believe that organ donations is not permissible
-It’s like playing God and Qur’an says only God can give and take life
YES-will allow if from living donor, Islam said we should help others
