Tinnitus- Foreign body, pulsatin vascular tumor, ASA, Hearing loss.
surrounding spinning w/ eyes open
vertigo
pt feels as if they are spinning not their surroundings
dizziness
sudden episodic vertigo w/ head movement lasts for seconds
Benign positional vertigo
Tx for benign positonal vertigo
epley maneuver
aural fullness, tinnitus, episodic vertigo last for hours
Menieres dz triad= hearing loss, tinnitus, episodic vertigo for hours
Menieres dz pathology
dilation of membranous labyrinth results from excess endolymph
menieres dz tx
low Na, low caffeine, thiazides/anticholinergics/antihistamine. Sx last resort
Vertigo lasting days to weeks preceded by viral Respiratory illness
Viral labyinthitis
Tx of viral labyrinthitis
meclizine
Vertigo, sudden deafness, tinnitus
acoustic neurooma-
causes of acoustic neuroma
CN 8 schwannoma affects vestibular portion but also cochlea
DX- Acousitic neuroma
MRI of CPA
Tx of acoustic neuroma
local radiation or sx excision
