What are the features of Weber’s test

A

Centre of the patients forehead
Loudest in which ear

normal= equal in both ears

Louder in the Normal ear- SensoryNeural hearing loss

Louder in affected ear- Conductive hearing loss -conductive problem the affected ear turns up the volume and becomes more sensitive - it will conduct through the bones in the head to be louder

What are the features of Rinne’s test

A

Tuning fork on mastoid process - test bone conduction

When do they stop hearing the humming take fork off and place beside the ear

Ask if they can then hear air conduction still

Normal result is air conduction is better than bone

Abnormal (Rinne’s negative) when bone conduction is better than air - conduction problem
