Enlargements Flashcards
Right Atrial Enlargement
Results form disorders of pulmonary system
Caused by prolonged low blood oxygen levels
Right atrial enlargement appearance lead 2
Amplitude > 2.5
More of a peak appearance
Right atrial enlargement V1
Biphasic P wave, positive portion greater than negative portion
Left atrial enlargement
Result of pressure/volume overload to left atrium
Left atrial enlargement appearance lead 2
Wide, notched > .12 sec
Left atrial enlargement V1
Negative larger than positive
Right ventricular hypertrophy
Typically benign and asymptomatic
With pulmonary disease, everything right goes wrong
Right ventricular hypertrophy appearance V1/V2
Tall R waves > 7 mm
Right ventricular hypertrophy V5/V6
Deep s waves
Left ventricular hypertrophy
Strong indication of overall mortality and CV morbidity in patients with hypertension
LVH appearance
V1 or V2: S wave
V5 or V6: r wave
Added together > 35 mm
LVH Cause
Chronic systolic hypertension
Increased filling of left ventricle
Stimulation of sympathetic nervous system
