What was the role of the court in the political system

A

The court was the centre of power and the hub of the political system, although it was not a specific place. it revolved around the King and the great officers of state who attended him. The King was expected to listen to the advice of his Privy councillors, although he was not bound to act on it.

Q

Why was parliament and their role so significant

A

Parliament was the meeting place for representatives in the localities. Here, policies were explained and approval was sought. English parliament was polite, however outspoken when necessary. This was significant as it misled James to believe parliament would pass his laws unconditionally. However, parliament spent most of its time dealing with local grievances and passing local laws.
