What are the three articles and what part of speech are they?
A, An, and The
They are Adjectives.
Opening Adjective
An adjective at the opening of a sentence.
Opening Adverb
An adverb (or adverb phrase) that starts a sentence
Delayed Adjective
An adjective that is placed after the word described.
Delayed Adverb
An adveb that is placed afteer the action it is describing.
Noun
A Person, Place, Thing, or Idea
Pronoun
A pronoun takes the places of a noun
examples:
He, We, I, They
Verb
A word that shows action, occurrence, or state of being.
Adverb
A word that can modify or describe a verb and tells when, how, where, or to what extent.
Usually ends with “ly”
Interjection
An abrupt exclamation
examples:
“HEY!!” or “OUCH!!”
Conjunction
A conjunction joins words or phrases.
What are the FANBOYS and what type of conjunction are they?
FOR, AND, NOR, BUT, OR, YET, and SO
They are Coordinating Conjunctions
What are the AWUBIS words and what type of conjunction are they?
As, Although, After, While, When, Unless, Because, Before, If, Since
They are Subordinating Conjunctions.
Correlative Conjuntions
Correlative Conjuntions use two words.
An example of these is “either” and “or” used together.
Preposition
A word or group of words used beforee a noun, pronoun, or noun phrasses to show direction, time, place, location, spatial relationships, or to introduse an object.
Examples:
In, At, On, Of, and To
