The study of inferred meaning through context clues. (how we speak or how we act with language because what or who is around us.)/ The inferred/ implies meaning.

The literal meaning.
What is Denotation?
Denotation is the main meaning of the word as it is defined in the dictionary.
What is Phonology?
The sound and distinct dialects in language.
What is Graphology?
Language in the written form E.g. on posters, articles, letters ect.
What is Grammar?
The sequencing of words and rules of english.
What does the G in GRAMPS stand for?
Genre.
What does the R in GRAMPS stand for?
Register (formal, informal).
What does the A in GRAMPS stand for?
Audience (primary, secondary).
What does the M in GRAMPS stand for?
Mode (spoken, written, mixed).
What does the P in GRAMPS stand for?
Purpose (inform, persuade, instruct/advise, Entertain, Transactional, Interactional).
What does the S in GRAMPS stand for?
Subject topics.
What is Connotation?
Connotation means the personal or emotional associations around words.
What is Pajoration?
pajoration is when a word takes on a negative association (silly originally denoted as happy/cheerful, now has been pajorated to mean daft or silly).
What is Melioration?
Melioration is when a word takes on a positive association( wicked used to mean something evil but now connotes with something which is good or excellent).
