The belief that kings were chosen by god, so answered only to him
What did religious problems do to start the civil war?
Charles was suspected of being a catholic like his wife, and then feted to her the Scottish to use and English prayer book
How did political problems start the civil war?
Charles argued with parliament, then dismisswd them for 11 years, then brought them back just to raise taxes, which they refused to do. This meant that he had to make a humiliation treaty which made him look bad as a king
How did the divine right of kings affect the civil war
Charles thought that he should only answer to god but parliament wanted him to answer to them. Parliament wanted a bigger part in running the country
