A
  • most theatres in schools, uni, in inns of court, and court
  • none allowed within city of london
  • “theatre is dirty” and thats where plague spreads

1567:
- inn was used for one show for sure (likely poorly built, cuz there was law suit on carpenter who built it)

1576: first theatre in shoerditch, built by James Burbage

1596: disupte over lease of theatre, chamberlain’s men have to perform at a different theatre (but they want more permanent theatre space)

1598: its christmas, landlord is away.
take apart the theatre - carry accross river, and build again. Burbages sons let actors uy ownership, and how shakespeare comes to be part of the chamberlain’s men
