What does the Engine Start Lever Control? What occurs in each position?
Ignition system - IDLE: Energized / CUTOFF: Deenergized
Spar Fuel Shutoff Valve - IDLE: Electronically opened / CUTOFF: Closed
Engine Fuel Shutoff Valve - IDLE: Opened / CUTOFF: Closed
What is the purpose of the Electrical Engine Control (EEC)?
Each EEC uses thrust lever inputs to automatically control forward thrust (manual and autothrottle) and reverse thrust.
What light(s) indicate the EECs are in Normal Mode
ON and white circle around
With an EEC switch showing both ALTN and ON, thrust levers never having been brought to IDLE, what mode is the EEC in?
Soft Alternate
The EECs provide redline protection(s) for which parameters?
N1 and N2 redline overspeed protection in normal and alternate modes.
What is indicated by the ENGINE CONTROL (amber) light? Is it dispatchable?
Illuminates when the EEC detects faults in the Engine Control System.

What indicates an EGT exceedance after engine shutdown?
Red Box around EGT digital readout
How is a hot start indicated during ground starting?
The readout will be displayed white and flashing if the EEC senses conditions that may lead to hot start or stall.
What causes the ENG FAIL (amber) alert on the EGT indicator
Engine Start Lever is in the IDLE position and below sustainable idle (50% N2)
How do you display the Fuel Used?
Selecting USED with the FUEL FLOW switch
EECS will abort an engine start for which start malfunctions?
-Impending hot starts
-engine stalls
-EGT start limit exceedances
-wet starts
Which position(s) does a start switch need to be in for both igniters to activate in case of an engine flameout?
Any position
How is reverse thrust indicated on the Upper Display engine instruments?
REV (amber/green) indications above N1.
Amber: when in transition or not locked
Green: reverser is deployed
What causes a REVERSER (amber) light on the Engine Panel
Illuminates when the thrust reverser is commanded to stow, and extinguishes 10 seconds later when the Isolation Valve closes.
If it illuminates for more than 12 seconds a malfunction has occurred and the ENG annunciator and MASTER CAUTION lights illuminate
What powers the APU Electronic Control Unit?
Switched Hot Battery Bus
