Engine Compartment (Tilt Cab Daily) Flashcards
Check crankcase oil level.
Correct level– no coolant or fuel contamination. Will look milky in color if contaminated with coolant. Will smell of fuel if fuel system is leaking.
Check coolant level or check coolant eye.
Correct level– no oil or fuel contamination.
Old trucks- Fill 2 inches of top of radiator tank.
New Trucks (DD13 engines) Just to the top of the sight glass.
IF THESE CONDITIONS EXIST, CALL Fire Maintenance ASAP
Check Transmission level. Check hot at operating temp, with apparatus running.
Correct level– no coolant contamination, condensation, or rust on dipstick, reddish milky color.
Fluid should be clean reddish/brown in color.
If CONTAMINATION is found, or if transmission is LOW, call fire Maintenance.
DO NOT ADD FLUID.
Check radiator hoses and clamps.
Leakage,
broken clamps.
Cuts rubbing.
Check all belts.
Cracking,
Missing,
Fraying edges or loose.
Tracking correctly or excessive noise, call Fire Maintenance if these conditions are found.
Check power steering fluid level.
Correct level
Leaks
Red in Color
Check power steering hose.
Leaks
or
Rubbing
Check power steering eye.
Eye should be red in color.
Check engine for.
Coolant
Oil
Fuel Leak
