Engine/APU Flashcards
When must the Engine Ignition be on?
Takeoff, Landing, Engine Anti-ice, and Heavy Rain
Maximum allowable EGT for Engine Start
725° C
Amber Arc on an Engine Limit Display indicates?
Cautionary range
Maximum altitude the APU can supply electrical power and bleed air?
10,000 feet
Maximum altitude the APU can supply bleed air only?
17,000 feet
Maximum altitude the APU can supply electrical power only?
41,000 feet
With the EEC in Normal Mode, if the thrust lever is advanced to the forward stop, what will the EEC do?
Limit thrust to the maximum certified thrust rating for current conditions.
What happened if the EEC lights display ON and ALT?
The EEC has automatically entered into soft alternate mode.
When the EEC is in soft alternate mode can the engine experience thrust rating shortfalls and exceedances?
Yes. EEC takes a snapshot of PA Temp and uses it until Hard ALT is selected
Does the EEC provide N1 and N2 overspeed protection in both Normal and Alternate Modes?
Yes.
What air sources can be used to start the engines?
APU, Ground Air, or Crossbleed
Power is removed from the start switch holding the solenoid for the start cutout at
approximately 56% N2 speed
What does the EEC monitor during ground starts?
Impending Hot Starts and EGT limit exceedances, and wet starts
A flashing white box surrounding the EGT during an engine start indicates?
Impending Hot Start
When the Engine start switch is placed in the GRD position what occurs?
Starter valve Opens, Engine Bleed Air valve Closes, (engine start levers in idle) selected ignitor are energized.
What happens when the Engine Start Switch is placed in CONT?
With engine start levers in idle, ignition is provided to both igniters when the engine is operating.
What happens when the Engine Start Switch is placed in FLT?
With engine start levers in idle, ignition is provided to both ignitors when the engine is operating.
IGN L provides power to Ignitors through what buses to what engines?
AC transfer Bus 1 for engine 1
AC transfer Bus 2 for engine 2
IGN R provides power to Ignitors through what buses to what engines?
AC Standby Bus for engine 1 and 2
