What are the 11 forms of energy?
- Solar
- Thermal
- Mechanical
- Electrical
- Wind
- Nuclear
- Chemical
- Hydraulic
- Sound
- Magnetic
- Radiant
Which energies are also considered to be mechanical?
Hydraulic & wind
What is solar energy?
Energy from the sun
What is thermal energy?
Energy from the movement of particles
What is mechanical energy?
Energy that comes from motion
What is electrical energy?
Energy from the movement of electrons
What is wind energy?
Energy related to air in motion
What is nuclear energy?
Energy that comes from the inside of the nucleus
What is chemical energy?
Energy coming from the bonds between atoms
What is hydraulic energy?
Energy related to water in motion
What is sound energy?
Energy related to the vibration of particles
What is magnetic energy?
Energy coming from forces related to magnetism
What is radiant energy?
Energy coming from the electromagnetic spectrum
What does the law of conservation of energy state?
This law states that energy cannot be created or destroyed, it can only be transferred and transformed.
What is the difference between transferring and transforming energy?
When transferring energy, you move it from one place to another, ex: The heat from a hot-plate to a beaker, however when transforming energy, you are changing the form from one type into another, ex: Water evaporating (liquid state to a gaseous state).
