Energy And Temperature Flashcards
What is temperature measured in?
Temperature is measured in Celsius.
What is energy measured in?
Energy is measured in jouls.
What happens when you heat up the particles in a liquid?
When you heat up the particles in a liquid they move quicker and when heated up to a certain temperature it may turn into a gas.
What is an equilibrem?
An equilibrem is when all the forces and energy are equal and no more energy can be transferred because the temperature on the outside of the object and the inside is the same temperature.
What is a convection current?
A convection current is when a liquid is heated up, and the hot part of the liquid (nearest to the souce of the heat) circulates to the top of the liquid, and the cool water goes to the bottom nearest to the source of the heat . They keep circulating untill all the water is heated evenly.
Can we see infared radiation with our eyes?
We cannot see infrared radiation through our eyes.
Can inrfared radiation travel through an empty space/vaccume?
Infrared radiation can travel throught an empty space/vaccume.
What do dark surfaces do to infrared radiation?
Dark surfaces absorb and emmit infrared radiation.
What is more infrared radiation emmited by?
Infrared radiation is emmited more by hotter objects.
What do shiny surfaces do to infrared radiation?
Shiny surface reflect infrared radiation well.
What is the sun and fire an example of?
The sun and fire is an example of sources of infrared radiation.
Does infrared radiation need particles to travel through?
Infrared radiation does not need particles to travel through.
