Q

Describe the process of how sound gets to your ear?

A
  • Sound waves travel through the air
  • Your outer ear catches the sound and sends it down your ear canal
  • The sound waves make your eardrum vibrate
  • The vibrations travel through your middle ear and into your inner ear
  • The vibrations hit a nerve which then takes a message about the sound to your brain.
  • When your brain hears the message, it hears the sound.

A

The hammer, anvil and stirrup

23
Q

When sound waves are gathered and go into your ear canal, they strike the eardrum. What happens next?

A

The ear drum vibrates and shakes the hammer. The hammer shakes the anvil and then the anvil shakes the stirrup which the passes the vibrations to the cochlea which will eventually pass the sound to the nerve and up to your brain.

24
Q

What is in inside the cochlea?

A

There is liquid in the cochlea and hair like nerve ends

25
