What are the 3 types of searches?
Hasty, Detail, Strip
Who can conduct a strip search?
Only a medical officer or human intelligence (HUMINT)/Counterintelligence (CI)

What are some things EPWs may not retain?
weapons, compass, map or any other information that would facilitate escape
(Also, high-value personal items should be taken away with obligation to return it because it may be used to bribe guards later for escape)
What is on a capture tag?
Name of the EPW, Rank, Service #, DOB, Date of capture, EPW’s unit, Location of capture, Capturing unit, Special circumstances of capture, Description of weapons/documents
What parts of the capture tags go where?
A-detainee, B-retained by the capturing unit, C-detainee’s property

Coalition Provisional Authority Forces Apprehension Forms, DA Form 2823 (sworn statement), NAVMC 11130 (statement of force) and the capture tag
Who can interrogate EPWs in the combat zone?
HUMINT/CI Marines
What are some categories to segregate EPWs?
male & female, Officer & Enlisted, Military & Civilian, by ethnic group, or Old & Young (further segregation includes: nationality, religion, and specific ideology)
How are EPW casualties classified and how are they evacuated?
walking wounded–MP EPW evac channels; non-walking wounded and sick are delivered to the nearest medical aid station and evacuated through medical channels (segregated from US and allied patients)

What are ODs?
Other Detainees–individuals who are in the custody of the US Armed Forces but who have not been classified as an EPW
What is an EPW?
Enemy Prisoner of War—a detained person who while engaged in combat under orders of his or her government, is captured by the armed forces of the enemy.
