What are the types of Endoscopes?
Rigid- simple tubes containing glass iod lenses, eye piece and connector for light cable
Flexible- used for GI or resp tract
Video- no optic fibres, scope is robust
What are the uses of an Endoscope?
foreign body material, tissue sampling, biopsy
What are the cleaning considerations of Endoscopes?
cold sterilised using disinfectant, first wash in detergent and water to remove gross contaminants
Flush channels and immerse in disinfectant for the appropriate period of time (manufacturer guidelines)
Wear PPE!
What is the purpose of an CT?
uses a computer and a rotating x-ray device to create detailed, cross-sectional images, or slices, of organs and body parts- orthopedic and body cavity details
What is the unit of measurement for the grey scale?
Houndsfield Units (HU)
Define anaiogram
type of x-ray used to examine blood vessels
Define myelogram
used to examine the spinal cord
What is the function of an x-ray detector?
converts weakened x-rays, used to convert onto signal computer
