Endokrinologie Flashcards

1
Q

What is endocrinology?

A

Endo = Inside, krinein= secretion towards the insinde

Hormon = like a signal

Physiology = normal functions - body is not ill

  • Signaling = hormones signal something
    • Endokrin = signal to the body (inside of the body)
    • Exokrin = pancreatic enzymes (outside of the body)
  • Physiological action of a hormone
    • Target organs - receiving hormone -
    • Function: change something (z.B pubertät viele Homron change body)
  • Feedback loops
    • Positive Feedback - stimulation - yes
    • Negative Feedback - inhibition - no (if its enough)

Q

Pathophysiology

abnormal function

A
  • too much h.
  • to littel h
  • hormone is not build the right way or the receptor in the molecules
  • autonomy (like ping pong - wrong signals)
  • Organs - cancer

E. systems

Bone

Sugar & fet metabolisim

A

I: Calcium, phosphate, Vitamin D = need enough

  • Vit. D helps to resorb Calcium

D: Osteoporosis

H: Parathyroid hormone

I: glucose & lipid metabolism, muscle & brain nutrition

D: DM

H: Insulin, Ghrelin, Glucagon

  • Ghrelin; growth hormone, food intake, weight gain)
    • If you block that you are not hungry (hunger feeling)
  • Glucagon
    • Gegenspieler Insulin (helps to raise glucose level in the blood)
  • Insulin
    • Lowers the glucose the level in the blood

G = Jod zu wenig - Konnten diese H. nicht produziert werden

Er = after 3 day sleeping & breathing better often use as doping

Therapy?

A

Therapy:

    • Block production of thyroid hormone production
    • Treat and prevent end organ failure e.g. tachycardia, hypertension etc.
    • Replace hormone
