endocrine system part two Flashcards
what is the anterior in the endocrine system?
releases ACTH as a response to stress as well as stimulating the adrenal glands to produce cortisol. It also produces LH and FSH which are two hormones important in the control of reproductive functioning
what is the posterior in the pituitary gland?
releases oxytocin (love hormone) which stimulates the contraction of the uterus during childbirth. It is important for the development of mother- infant bonding (attachment) Recent research using mice has found that oxytocin is indispensable for healthy maintenance and repair, and that it declines with age (Elabd et al 2014)
Why are the adrenal glands located in the kidneys?
it gains quicker access to other organs (i.e heart etc to survive)
