- Made up of endocrine glands.
- Secretes hormones that coordinate slower but longer-acting response to stimuli.

- Conveys high-speed electrical signals along specialised cells called neurons.

- The body’s long-distance acting regulators.

An animal hormone:
A
Is a chemical signal or messenger that is secreted into the circulatory system and communicates regulatory messages within the body.

Hormones/Nerve impulses:
A
- Usually hormones work slowly and for longer-time, while the nerve impulses are faster but short-lived.

Hormone production:
A
- Produced by special glands and leads to other cells where other organs are affected/ stimulated in different ways.
- May reach all parts of body, but only certain cells, target cells, are equipped to respond.
