What are complications (2) that can happen with type I diabetics?
DKA & hypoglycemia
What is happening with type II diabetes?
decreased effectiveness of insulin, they STILL have it!
What are three things that may be a result of type II? (decreased or increased)

_____ resistance by body cells to insulin
_____ production of glucose by the liver
or any combination of these!!
decreased
increased
increased
What can type II diabetes be controlled by?
regulating dietary intake (sugar, losing weight)
better utilizing glucose (exercise)
reducing insulin resistance

What is a classic presentation of a type II diabetic?
older adults mostly overweight
