What is the most common type of thyroid cancer?
A
Papillary thyroid cancer is the most common.
It is a carcinoma involving the thyroid epithelia cells and presents with a painless thyroid nodule discovered on a physical exam. It may also present with new-onset hoarsness or dysphagia.
Treatment is with thyroidectomy, radioactive iodine, and TSH suppression (levothyroxine)
