Q

Levothyroxine (T4)

A

MOA: T4 is converted to T3 by 5’DI, T3 then moves to nucleus & binds ligand-binding domain of the thyroid receptor (TR), this promotes disruption of the TR, displacement of the corepressers & binding of coactivstors, TR coactivator complex activates gene transcription leading to alteration in protein synthesis & cellular phenotype
Uses: Hypothyroidism
