Amoxicillin w/ clavulante
MOA: Bacterial cell wall synthesis inhibitor w/ beta lactamase inhibitor
Uses: Upper respiratory tract infections including otitis media & sinusitis, Urinary tract infections, diabetic foot ulcers & community acquired pneumonia
Amoxicillin
MOA: cell wall synthesis inhibitor
Uses: Upper reap tract infections including otitis media & sinusitis, Urinary tract infections
Azithromycin
MOA: Macrolide antibiotic, binds 50S ribosomal subunit of bacteria & suppresses proton synthesis
Uses: Upper & lower respiratory tract infections, including sinusitis, community acquired pneumonia, acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis & some atypical organisms (chlamydia, legionella & mycoplasma)
Cephalexin
MOA: bacterial cell wall synthesis inhibitor (first generation cephalosporin)
Uses: skin & soft tissue infections, Urinary tract infections
Erythromycin
MOA: Macrolide antibiotic, binds 50S ribosomal subunit of bacteria & suppresses protein synthesis
Uses: (alternative for patients allergic to penicillin) upper & lower respiratory tract infections, skin & soft tissue infections & some atypical organisms (chlamydia, legionella & mycoplasma)
Levofloxacin
MOA: Quinolone antibiotic, interferes w/ DNA gyrase (enzyme necessary for synthesis of bacterial DNA)
Uses: Urinary tract infections, upper respiratory tract infections (otitis, sinusitis), skin & soft tissue infections (community acquired MRSA)
