Cause of endocarditis?
Typically caused by bacterial infection.
Heartworm (Dilofilaria Immitis)
Primary focus of endocarditis….
is normally elsewhere in the body
Common in small animals?
uncommon in small animals
Symptoms of endocarditis
-Pyrexia -Coughing -Dyspnoea -Heart murmur -Weight loss -Anorexia -Lethargy -Bounding pulse -Inflammation of the other bod parts e.g.lameness, joint pain
How to diagnosis endocarditis
Electrocardiography, clinical exam, haemotology
Treatment of endocarditis
Antibiotics, supportive therapy eg. rest, warmth, TLC, guarded prognosis
