End Feel Flashcards

1
Q

A

normal

Produced by caps &/or associated ligaments

Firm sensation with some give in it

as if 2 pieces of rubber were being squeezed together

Q

Early capsular (hard) capsular EF

A

abnormal

joint hypomobility

Firmer sensation occurring before normal EROM

Secondary to arthrosis or ligs/caps scar tissue from tear (micro-macro)

Generally accompanied by a decreased ROM in that direction

Q

Soft capsular EF

A

abnormal

joint hypermobility/instability
Capsular resistance less than expected

Generally accompanied by an increased ROM in that direction

Gr III lig sprains, feels like it can go for ever

Q

Muscle spasm EF

A

abnormal

Involuntary ms contraction

Reflex ms contraction second to nociceptors irritation
Sudden stop of movt often accompanied by pain
Protective mechanism
Secondary to recent trauma, gr II ms tears or hypermobility

*not the same as early elastic - is a protective mechanism
- for if area is irritated and needs protection mostly for acute conditions

Q

Boggy EF

A

abnormal

Secondary to viscous liquid (blood) within jt
