Q

When should you contact EPOS for a cardiac arrest call?

Q

What should you do if you have been ordered to transport a cardiac arrest patient?

17
Q

What does FBAO stand for?

A

Foreign Body Airway Obstruction.

18
Q

What types of airway obstructions are there?

A

There are anatomical airway obstructions (swollen airway) and FBAOs.

19
Q

For partial FBAOs what should you do?

A

Encourage patient to cough and move them towards the ambulance.

20
Q

What should you do for complete FBAOs?

A

Try back blows, if unsuccessful then try abdominal thrusts (if can’t do abdominal thrusts then do chest thrusts) do not do all three!

21
Q

What is traumatic cardiac arrest?

A

Traumatic cardiac arrest is when the patient is in cardiac arrest do to some form of trauma instead of a medical reason.

22
Q

What can cause cardiac arrest?

A

Cardiovascular disease
Myocardial infarction
Asphyxiation
Severe chest trauma
Severe blood loss
Hypothermia
Electrocution
Poisoning

23
Q

What is a myocardial infarction?

A

It is a heart attack

24
Q

What is asphyxiation?

A

It is a lack of oxygen.

25
What patients should have something under their R hip during CPR?
Pregnant patients.
