What is the number one priority on a call?
Yourself, you must keep yourself safe, you can’t help someone else if you get hurt.
What is your second priority at a scene?
Your partners safety.
What kind of control is the medical director in?
The medical director is in indirect medical control.
What is the “Duty to Act”?
The “Duty to Act” is to provide medical assistance to those in need when off duty.
Where should a patients weight be when you are lifting them?
You should keep a patients weight as close to you as possible.
Why should you wash your hands even after wearing gloves?
It is super important to wash your hands as much as possible because, washing hands is more effective than gloves are for protection.
How many lobes of the lungs are there?
There are 5 lobes of the lungs, 3 in the right side and 2 in the left.
What is the function of the epiglottis?
The function of the epiglottis is to prevent food from entering the lungs and to prevent air from entering the digestive tract.
Which type of organs bleed the most?
Solid organs bleed more than hollow organs.
What makes the CNS (Central Nervous System)?
The CNS is the made up of the brain and spinal column.
What makes the PNS (Peripheral Nervous System)?
The PNS is all the nerves of the body that come off of the spinal column (everything but the brain/spinal cord).
Whose L and R is it when you are referring to it?
It is always the patients L and R, when referring to the L and R.
What are the closed cavities of the body?
1) the cranial cavity (bleeder)
2) the spinal cavity
What are the open cavities of the body?
1) the thoracic cavity (chest)
2) the abdominal cavity (has quadrants)
3) the pelvic cavity
How many cavities of the body are there?
There are five cavities in the body.

Why is it important to know what happened leading up to a call?
There can be underlying issues/concerns that are the reason that the chief complaint of the patient occurred.
ex) broken hip is the chief complaint, but the patient fell due to a stroke
