A
- Make decisions about disputes between workers and employers
- e.g unfair dismissal, redundancy claims, unfair reduction in pay, discrimination

Starting an employment tribunal claim
A
- Attempt conciliation
- Claimant files ET1 form
- Defendant must respond within 28 days with an ET3 form
- May request a case management hearing to establish what claims are being made

Who is on the panel?
A
- employment judge (legally qualified)
- two non legally qualified members (one from employers, one from workers)

Tribunal hearing
A
- Most open to public
- More flexible, less formal
- ‘Inquisitorial’, panel asking questions
Both sides can put their case, some have eye witnesses being cross examined - Both name closing submissions
- Tribunal adjourns to make decision
- Has to give reason for its decision
