District School Board Policies

Superintendents and responsibilities

They can revoke and terminate teaching certifications. 8 teachers, 5 administrators and 1 private school and 7 civilians.
What is probationary contract?
employment contract for one school year. A teacher may not receive a probationary contract unless there is a break in his or her employment status.

first year teachers are evaluates twice in a year and other once in a year.
FSA 50 % learning growth.
Teachers effective or highly effective will receive salary increase. Needs improvement and unsatisfactory will not.
Professional Development Plan
Each School district needs to develop a professional development plan:
1) specific performance data for students
2) in service objectives and needs to be measurable
3) Include evaluation component.
Employee dismissal
Documentation needs to be done.
Teacher has a right to bring a union representative to the meeting.

PSC contracts are renewed automatically and 90 school days period needs to be given and professional development opportunities need to be offered.
When the meetings are not open to the public in the district?
Collective bargaining, conducting a dismissal meeting of an employee who requested the meeting to be private.
Florida Educuation Equity Act
students in Florida cannot be discriminated because of the same terms in civil rights. Some exceptions such as, bodily contacted sports and gender education.
School Advisory Council
Members are teachers, parents, principal and students in high and middle schools. Middle school in not mandatory. They are in charge of SIP.
