Our emotions are important tools for understanding and interacting with our environment
However, they are also flawed and can lead us to make mistakes, such as when we become overly emotional.
When in a state of heightend emotions, our minds are bombarded with alarming thoughts and disturbing and distorted images of our objective reality.
Therefore, there is no room for rational thought and our judgment is clouded. We require something to help us manage them effectively.

Unlike IQ, we can increase our emotional intelligence throughout life.
Steps for Emotional Intelligence with others.
- Encourage them to talk about their feelings. 2. Praise them for their efforts and for showing self-control. 3. Be specific and constructive. 4. When you are very upset during a dispute, take a break to calm down.
