Emergency Procedures Flashcards
Land Immediately
Self explanatory
Land As Soon As Possible
Emergency conditions are urgent and require landing at the nearest landing site at which a safe landing can be made
Land As Soon As Practicable
Emergency conditions are less urgent and in the pilots judgement, he may proceed to the nearest airfield where he can expect appropriate assistance.
Continue Flight
Continue flight as planned. Repair at the destination according to the maintenance manual.
What do bolded items mean?
Immediate actions that the pilot shall take
Gong sound
A gong sound is generated each time a red warning appears on the CWP
Continuous Tone
Nr is below 360 RPM OR max takeoff rating exceeded
- Collective - Reduce maintain Nr in norm op range
- Engine parameters - Check
Intermittent Tone
Nr is above 410 RPM
1. Collective - Increase to maintain Nr in norm op range
Auto - Cruise Flight over Land
- Collective - Reduce to maintain Nr in norm op range
-
IAS - Vy
- If relight impossible or loss of TR thrust - Twist grip - IDLE Position
- Maneuver into wind
- 70ft: Cyclic - FLARE
- 20/25ft - Collective - GRADUALLY INCREASE
- Cyclic - FORWARD, slightly nose up <10degrees
- Pedals - ADJUST
- Collective - INCREASE
- after touch-down - Controls - ADJUST to control ground run
- once stopped - Collective - FULL DOWN
- Rotor Brake - APPLY <170 RPM
Auto - Cruise Flight over Water
1-9 Same as Land
- after touch-down
10. Collective - MAINTAIN
11. Forward door emergency handles - PULL UP
12. Doors - JETTISON OR OPEN
13. Rotor Brake - APPLY
Abandon aircraft when rotors stop
Hover Auto - IGE
- Collective - MAINTAIN
- Pedals - CONTROL YAW
- ** Collective - INCREASE** to cushion
Hover Auto - OGE
- ** Collective - FULL LOW PITCH**
- when Nr stops decreasing - Cyclic - FORWARD gain airspeed according to available height
- Auto procedure - APPLY
Relight in Flight
- Fuel Pump - ON
- Engine starting selector - OFF position
-
Engine starting selector - ON position
Relighting automatic as soon as Ng <17%
After relighting procedure -
Fuel Pump - OFF
Min of 1000ft necessary to complete procedure post flame-out
Loss of TR Thrust - Hover IGE
(or OGE within HV diagram)
Left yaw
LAND IMMEDIATELY
1. Twist Grip - IDLE position
2. Collective - INCREASE
Loss of TR Thrust - Hover OGE
(clear area, out of HV diagram)
Left yaw
Simultaneously:
1. Collective - REDUCE depending on available height
2. Cyclic - FORWARD to gain speed
3. Airspeed - Maintain Vy or highter
4. Collective - ADJUST obtain min sideslip angle
LAND AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
If a go-around has been performed, carry out an auto on a suitable area as landing procedure.
Loss of TR Thrust - In Cruise Flight
Left Yaw
1. Airspeed - Maintain Vy or highter
2. Collective - ADJUST obtain min sideslip angle
LAND AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
Approach and Landing on suitable are for Auto:
1. Twist grip - IDLE position
2. Carry out auto according to procedure
Loss of TR Control
Symptoms: jamming of pedals, loss of pedal effectiveness.
Landing is made easier with right wind component
Go around impossible <20kts due to loss of vertical fin effieciency
1. Cyclic and Collective - ADJUST for 70kts
On suitable area for running landing:
2. Shallow approach
3. Slight left sideslip - reduces airspeed as collective is applied
4. Running landing

Smoke Clears - YES …
If parameters NOT correct:
12. GENE - OFF
13. Apply case A og GENE DC generate off line procedure
LAND AS SOON AS PRACTICABLE
If parameters CORRECT:
12. AVIONICS - ON
13. Min req consumers - ON, one at a time
CONTINUE FLIGHT
CAUTION - with EMERG SW - OFF or BATT and GEN - OFF, the VEMD goes off. Apply proc for failure of both screens
Smoke in Cabin - Source Ident
B4/T2
- Corresponding system - OFF
- Vent cabin
CONTINUE FLIGHT, depending on system failed
Note - after DC has been switched off and on in flight, GOV light will remain on until the next normal full engine shut down and battery switch off on the ground
