Life jackets
1 life jacket for each occupant when operating more than 50nm from land suitable for an emergency landing, or when the take-off and landing segment is over water.
Life jacket must be located at or immediately adjacent each seat.
Must have a whistle (except infant lifejacket).
Life raft
Sufficient life rafts for every occupant of the aircraft. When the aircraft is greater than 400nm from land.
Lift rafts shall be in addition to life jackets.
Emergency signalling equipment
When more than 1 lift rat is carried at least § 1 ELT and 1 portable ELT, or § 2 portable ELT’s must be carried.
o A supply of pyrotechnic distress signals.
Portable megaphones
2 portable megaphones must be evenly distributed through the cabin when at least 1 passenger is carried.
Survival equipment
Must carry survival equipment for sustaining life appropriate to the area when the carriage of lift rafts is required or within or through remote areas.
Illumination of emergency exits
Must have and be used when flying less than 1000ft above terrain or on the ground with pax on board.
Emergency lighting must be switched on, or
Armed with the normal cabin lights switched on.
Crew member proficiency in Emergency Procedures
Shall be tested and passes annually.
Briefing of passengers
Oral briefing of:
Smoking o Seat belts o Location of emergency exits o Oxygen o Floatation devices o Stowage of hand luggage o Presence of survival equipment (where applicable).
Seating capacity of more than 6 must have printed material to supplement briefing, detailing use of emergency equipment and brace position.
PA must be available for aircraft with capacity of 10 pax or more.
