Q

Adrenaline (MOA, Duration of action)

A

MOA:
- Acts on alpha and beta adrenergic receptors
- Alpha-adrenergic action reduces vasodilation and vascular permeability, preventing fluid loss and hypotension during anaphylaxis
- Relaxes smooth muscles in the bronchi and iris, and serves as a histamine antagonist, making it effective in treating allergic reactions

Duration of action:
- SC may produce bronco-dilation within 5-10 mins
- Maximal effects may occur within 20mins
