Following the Ditching call by the captain, what 3 things should the FO do?
Transmit a MAYDAY call on the ATC frequency in use, or 121.5
Squawk 7700
the Captain will call for the ‘emergency landing /Ditching’ checklist’ from QRH section 8 which the FO will do
in the event that a power loss to the consoles is experienced, how can the crew turn on auxiliary power?
The crew member closest to the left hand console pushes the ‘SATPHONE’ switch.
Following the initial pilots actions, what does the MC and observer need to say/do,
MC Advise bearing and distance to the nearest vessel, reef or land
observer transmits MAYDAY call on Marine CH16
after MC and Observer do their respective bearing /distance and MAYDAY call, what 5 things do they need to do to prepare for Ditching
Stow loose equipment
check the cabin is clear of loose articles
tighten their harnesses
if wearing blue jacket, if time remove from pouch and place over head
adopt brace position

Pilot to use PA as mission ICS doesn’t work with only battery master selected on. If captain elected to leave main and AUX batteries on and the bus tie in the tie position, the call can be made on the ICS.
Once in the water, what is the 4 person evacuation drill?
observer moves forward and deploys the front right or left exit, whichever is higher
the MC moves forward, unlatches the life raft and passes the painter to the observer
pilots enter the cabin, or egress through overhead exit if door is jammed
The observer and MC push the life raft into the water and observer egresses aircraft
The MC retrieves the grab bag (captain ensures this happens)
MC, FO, Captain exit aircraft
Once the aircraft has come to a stop in the water, if there are 5 or more persons on board, what is the evacuation drill?
observer moves forward and deploys the front right or left exit whichever is higher in the water
the MC gathers the pax/remaining crew and moves them to the exit
The unlatches the life raft and passes the painter to the observer
