Engine Fire - Start
Starter switch - continue to engage Mixture - Idle cutoff Throttle - Open Fuel Pump - OFF Fuel Selector - OFF
abandon if fire continues
Engine Fire - Flight
Fuel Selector - OFF Throttle - Idle Mixture - Idle cutoff Fuel Pump - OFF HT/DEF - OFF (to prevent smoke/fumes from entering cabin)
If fire continues
Airspeed - INCREASE in attempt to blow out fire
Electrical Fire
EMERG BATT switch - Verify ARM position BATT MASTR switch - OFF ALTR Switch - OFF Vents - OPEN (fresh air flow) HT/DEF - OFF (prevent smoke/fumes from entering cabin) Fire - Extinguish
Emergency Descent (if needed) - Safe Altitude
Engine Power Loss During Takeoff
Sufficient ALTITUDE to attempt restart
Airspeed - Maintain safe airspeed Fuel Selector - Switch tanks Fuel Pump - verify ON Mixture - RICH Alternate Air - OPEN
Engine Failure during FLIGHT
Airspeed - Maintain 76 Fuel Selector - Switch tanks Fuel Pump - ON Mixture - RICH Alternate Air - OPEN Engine Instruments - Check
MAGS - Check
- when power is restored*
- Alternate Air: Close
- Fuel Pump: OFF
Power Off Landing
Airspeed - maintain 76
Place to Land - Pilot Option (establish 1000’ above FE at downwind)
Cabin and Pax - Prepare (unlatch cabin door)
- Squawk 7700
- ELT ON
- Engine Shutdown
Spin Recovery
Rudder - Full opposite direction of rotation
Control Wheel - Full FWD while neutralizing ailerons
Throttle - IDLE
Rudder - Neutral when rotation stops
Control Wheel - Smooth back pressure to recover from dive
Throttle - As Required
Emergency Descent
Throttle - IDLE
Mixture - RICH
Bank - 45 deg (to greatly decrease vertical lift component to help you get down to the ground)
Fuel Pump Switch - ON (not during engine fire)
Airspeed - Do not exceed 125
Rollout - Pilot option
When MUST a SIMULATED Emergency Descent rollout be accomplished by?
By 1,500’ AGL!!
- Teaching point, want to make power off landing as close as possible to a normal landing. Rollout 1000’ abeam landing area
Engine Failure - Below Vr
Throttle - Idle
Brakes - As Required
Engines - Shutdown if Necessary
Engine Failure - Above Vr
Airspeed - Maintain Safe Airspeed
Landing - Straight Ahead
Engine - Shutdown if Necessary
