Q

Tail Rotor Control Failure
landing made easier with wind from right
with airspeed lower than 20 kts go around impossible

pedal jam or disconnected

A

Airspeed to 70 its
HDY TEST BUTTON press for 5 sec to neutralize t/r
pedals the reset to normal
shallow approach with nose to the right (side slip left)

7
Q

Tail Rotor Control Failure
(stuck pedal)

landing is made easier by a wind coming from the right. if airspeed is lower than 20 kts go around is impossible due to the loss of efficiency of the fin

A

set 70 kts level flight
press HDY TEST switch for 5 sec then reset to neutralize t/r pedals

shallow approach at 70 kts with left
side slip to run on ldg

The side slip will be reduced as power is applied

Q

Governor Failure Low Side

large drop in fuel flow rate
horn, low Tq, Nr 360 dec, Ng dec then stabilizes <70%

A

establish autorotation
rotor Nr 320-430
speed 65-80 kts max 125 kts
spot turn into wind/select landing site
trim
Fuel Flow Control - advance slowly into gate to 70% Ng
Ng and T4 should rise

Collective - increase pitch to decrease Nr to 350
Fuel Flow Control - increase to 380 Nr
Trim Collective & FFC - to hold level flight at 380 Nr

to inc power - inc coll pitch to lower Nr to 350,
then inc FFC to 380 Nr etc
to dec power - reduce FFC to 350 Nr
then dec coll pitch to inc 380 Nr etc

low approach at 65 kts/394 Nr
reduce forward speed & land
FFC shutdown before lowering collective

Q

Governor Failure High Side

Ng inc, T4 inc, Tq inc

A

DO NOT LOWER COLLECTIVE
FFC - reduce to get Nr in the middle of the green arc
Trim Collective & FFC - to mainain level flight at 380 Nr
continue flight out of governor range

to inc power - inc coll pitch to lower Nr to 350, then inc FFC to 380 Nr etc
to dec power - reduce FFC to 350 Nr then dec coll pitch to inc 380 Nr etc

low approach at 65 kts/394 Nr
reduce forward speed & land

Q

Governor Failure Surging

Nr,Tq,Ng,T4 oscillations, jerks in yaw axis

A

reduce collective pitch
if surging continues - reduce FFC to leave governor range
if surging persists - land asap
if uncontrollable - autorotate

to inc power - inc coll pitch to lower Nr to 350,
then inc FFC to 380 Nr etc
to dec power - reduce FFC to 350 Nr
then dec coll pitch to inc 380 Nr etc

low approach at 65 kts/394 Nr
reduce forward speed & land

16
Q

NG Indicator Failure

A

do not exceed Tq value: 100% when IAS < 40 kts
do not exceed Tq value: 94% when IAS > 40 kts
do not exceed T4 value: 730C when OAT < 15C
do not exceed T4 value: 750C when OAT > 15C

17
Q

Tq Indicator Failure

A

do not exceed Ng value: 90% @ SL to 98% @ 8000”

18
Q

T4 Indicator Failure

A
follow Ng Limitations
max cont 98%
max t/o 101.5%
max trans 107.5%
do not attempt to start engine
19
Q

NR/Nf readings below green ark

A

if values agree - reduce collective pitch
indicator should rise to governed value
if not follow GOV Low procedure

20
Q

NR/Nf readings different

A

NR > Nf - NR is incorrect
Nf > NR - on ground - during start - reduce fuel flow control to check for freewheel slippage
in flight - Nr is incorrect

21
Q

Rotor RPM Indicator Failure

A

complete loss of Nr indication - maintain eng torque above 10% - Nr given by the NF pointer
Land ASAPL

22
Q

Free Turbine RPM indicator failure

A

check that NR reading remains within governed
range when collective pitch is slowly modified
with engine Tq > 0
continue flight

23
Q

HDY Yaw Servo Control Slide Valve Seizure in Hover

A

in Hover - if no yaw, land normally

if yaw - actuate collective HDY switch to cutoff HDY

24
Q

HDY Yaw Servo Control Slide Valve Seizure in Flight

A

reduce speed
enter sideslip if necessary
collective HDY switch OFF

25
Q

HDY Main Servo Control Slide Valve Seizure

A

collective HDY switch OFF
reduce speed to 60 kts
flat approach with run on no hover landing at walking speed ASAP
lock collective and shut down
