Q

How do vertebra form?

A
  1. Sclerotome split into caudal and cranial sections. Caudal of one combines with cranial of another to form hemivertebra
  2. Neural arch is formed from caudal sections and encloses the neural tube. Fuses dorsally to form the vertebral foramen
  3. Vertebral body arises from the cranial section. Is obliterated when fuses
  4. Notochord remains in spaces between vertebra. Incorporated into intervertebral discs as nucleus pulposus
