Embriology 2 Flashcards
The kidneys originate from the intermediate mesoderm.
Kidney development goes through three different morphological forms - pronephros, mesonephros and the definitive developmental form called metanephros.
The liver originate from liver bud – the outgrowth that arises from endodermal epithelium at the distal end of the foregut.
The fetal liver (besides the yolk sac and spleen) has the most important hematopoietic role for the most of the intrauterine life.
Two months before the end of intrauterine life, the role of the liver in hematopoiesis slowly decreases and the main role is slowly taken over by the bone marrow.
Morphological stages in tooth development: bud stage, cap stage, bell stage, crown formation stage, tooth root formation stage.
Functional stages in tooth development: growth, mineralization, eruption.
