1591: Wentworth imprisoned due to demands about succession
1593: released and instantly tries rallying support with MPs inside and outside parliament, however Elizabeth is supported by the Privy Council and he is sent to the tower.
What were the issues with purveyance and how did Elizabeth cope?
1593: House of Commons wants purveyance (Elizabeth receiving lowered prices bc she’s Queen) to be changed, Elizabeth says she’ll look into it, doesn’t actually do much but it appeases parliament.

1597: Robert Wingfield says monopolies are being abused, Elizabeth yields and agrees they’re causing raised prices, however she only revokes a few while handing out more.

1601: some MPs want to abolish monopolies, however they’re divided as to whether they pass a bill or ask Elizabeth as this would infringe on her prerogative. Elizabeth ends some of the most harmful monopolies.

Drained resources, troops had to be trained there were invasion scares throughout the 1590s

1596: protest against enclosure/ general discontent, wanted to march with guns to London, however few actually organised and some were executed as a result.

Food riots in Kent 1595, and in Sussex, Somerset and Norfolk over the next three years.
When and what was the Essex Rebellion?
1601: Essex marches to London expecting support with a plan to capture the Queen ( after getting in trouble for signing a peace treaty in Tyrone, sweet wine monopoly taken, house arrest) the rebellion collapsed within the day and he was executed.
