Where was Elijah sent to
elijah was sent to Zarephath where he would meet a widow who would give him food.
Where did Elijah meet her
at hte town gate while she was picking up sticks.
What did he ask her for
a drink and some bread
what did she say in return
she had no bread and only a handful of flour in a jar and some olive oil in a jug, enough to feed her son and then die.
How did elijah respond
elijah told her to make him bread as well as her son and herself. He reassured her that the flour would not run out and the olive oil would not run dry until the drought in Isreal had ended.
What did the widow do in response
she did what he said and fed her family. The oil did not run dry and the flour did not run out.
What happened later
some time later, the widow’s son was very ill and he stopped breathing. She blamed Elijah and claimed it was because Elijah judged her because of her sin
How did Elijah react
he took the boy up to his room cried out to god saying “Lord my God, let this boy’s life return to him!” and stretched himself on the boy’s body 3 times
What happened next
God restored the Boy’s life back to him. Elijah returned to the mother and said “Look, your son is alive”
How did the widow respond
She said that before she now knew that Elijah was a man of God and the words spoken from God were true.

What did Elijah tell the people
He told the people they had to choose between God and Baal
What did each side do
cut 2 bulls (1 each) and placed them over 1 pile of wood each. Neither was lit.
What was the challenge
Whoever’s God could set fire to the wood was the true god of Isreal
