Behaviorism Theory
Uses praise to reward for correct behavior until behavior change is consistently demonstrated
Gestalt theory
Gives structure/framework and person has to problem solve by organizing the information within the structure
Constructivism
Has the person solve the problem on their own first and then gives them structure/feedback.
Dispositional Characteristics
Characteristics that are unique to each individual and are relatively stable throughout life (opposite of situational characteristics)

Motivation to Learn: Locus of Control
Our perceptions of the good and bad things that happen to us.
Governs how we engage in a new task as well as our decision making.
Locus of Control: Internal
I have control. I can manipulate things to achieve what I want. Learn from bad experiences. Do not believe in chance. More willing to be a risk taker
Locus of Control: External
Things happen in life are due to an other forces (luck, god, professor)
Tend not to see things coming.
Do not learn from bad experiences
More chaos in life because can not predict events.
Task Orientation
Engage at building skills at the tasks placed before them Success is building the tasks/skills. Don't compare themselves to others. Take risks Little to no fear of error
Ego Orientation
More externally focused.
Concerned about how the rest of the world views the.
Protecting their persona and how people perceive them.
Focused on their reputation.
Not interested in building skill.
Avoid making mistakes and taking risks
