Lines shows direction and split larger areas into smaller areas. They also show movement by carrying the eye from one area to another.

What do vertical lines do?
Carry the eyes from top to bottom creating an illusion of height, dignity and strength.
What do horizontal lines do?
They carry the eyes across from side to side giving a feeling of relaxation.
What do diagonal lines do?
They are slaunt and gives off activity and excitement. They are not commonly used which makes them more attractive.
What are curved lines?
They are lines that are slightly bent and gives off an appearance of softness and fullness.

What are structural lines?
They are formed as pieces of the garments are being sewed together. Example seams and darts
What are decorative lines?
They are applied to the garments to add interest. Example, button and laces
What is a silhouette and why is it important?
Its an outline of your body and its important to determine the type of lines one wears on the garments.
What is an optical illusion?
a miisleading image or visual impression presented to the eye.
What can wearing clothes with vertical lines do?
It can make the figure appear taller or slimmer. Although sometimes the lines are far apart giving the illusion of more width than length
What can wearing clothes with horizontal lines do?
Make you look shorter and fuller.
