A

A path which leads the audiences eye, The lines can have length, thickness and direction. Lines can express feeling (jagged: anger). Lines create pattern and texture, repetitive. Lines are any shape/direction.

A

Shapes are defined by the area around due to defined or implied boundary or difference in value, colour or texture. Shapes have dimension, and are organic or geometric. Shapes can show perspective by overlapping.

A

Form is any 3D object or something in a 2D image that looks to be 3D. Form can be measured height, width, and depth. Form is also defines by light and dark (shading)

Texture

A

The texture is how it feels (physical), this is called real texture. If texture is seen but not felt it is called implied texture.

Space

A

Space is used with purpose. Space can have length and width like a floor or be three dimensional length, width and height. Space includes the background, foreground and middle ground. Space is also distance around between or within components of the piece. Their are also two types positive, space of the shape representing the subject matter and negative, space around, between the subject matter.

A

Value is the lightness and darkness in the artwork. Intense lights next to deep darks create contrast or emphasis. Value is a powerful tool in creation of mood. Value is sometimes called tone

A

Colour is seen either by the way light reflects off a surface or in coloured light sources. Colour and particularly contrasting colour is also used to draw attention to a particular part of image
Colour terms: hue, intensity, value, primary colours (red blue yellow), secondary colours (green, violet and orange), tertiary colours (red-orange, yellow-orange, blue-green, blue violet), complimentary colours, analogous colours, monochromatic colours, warm and cold colours.
