What is Line? Give examples
A constant mark on a surface, Long,Wavy,Thick
What is color? What is it’s 3 main parts?
Color is light displayed of an object, Hue, intensity and value, Hue is the color or shade, Intensity is the brightness or dullness of a color and value is the light/dark shade/tone.
What is shape?
An encolsed area defined and determined by other art elements, (2-D/3-D) simple, organic, geometric, complex, Circle,Square,Triangle
What is form?
Form has three dimensions, height, width and depth, a 2-D object looks 3-D, a cone is a 3-D triangle, a sphere is a 3-D circle, a cube is a 3-D box a cylinder is hollow/solid.
What is texture?
Texture is in the surface quality that can be seen or felt.
What is value?
Value is the lightness/darkness of a non-coloured object, sudden/gradual transitions.
What is space?
Space is the area in between, around, above, below or within objects.
What is balance?
Balance:
The arrangement of elements to create stability in a work.
Symmetrical bal. Same on both sides, Asymmetrical bal. Different on both sides.
What is emphasis?
Emphasis:
The focal point of an image.
What is contrast?
Contrast:
A large difference between two things.
phat is rhythm/mouvement?
Rhythm/Mouvement:
Regular repetition of elements/The path the eye takes through the artwork.
What is pattern/repetition?
Pattern/Repetition:
The repeating of an object/Repetition works with pattern to make the art seem active.
What is unity?
Unity:
When all the elements/principles work together to make art.
What is variety?
Variety:
The use of elements to hold the viewer’s attention.
What is proportion?
Proportion:
The comparative relationship of one part to another with respect to size etc.
