Ask the instruction to be repeated.
If still not clear put the emergency brakes on and clarify.

-Maintain situational awareness, speak clearly, correct driving mode.
- Action to take if driver does not respond to instructions
Apply the emergency brakes and ask the driver why.
Clarify any misunderstanding.
If driver is still not responding, contact signaller and abort conducting.
- Reason for ensuring all staff have a clear understanding prior to making an unusual or out-of-course move.
Safety is the number one priority.
Misunderstanding can lead to incidents, accidents and errors.
