Leaving cab:
1) Brake step 3
2) Tail lights on (check lights)
3) DRA set
4) Interlock (if not in service)
5) Turn off desk
6) Remove all keys
7) Close all doors and windows
Entering other cab:
1) Start desk
2) Acknowledge TPWS
3) Marker/Headlight on (check lights)
4) Register GSM-R
5) Register PIS

1) Brake step 3
2) DRA set
3) Master switch Neutral
4) Make PA
5) Door key out
6) Collect master key from driver
7) Handover all relevant/important information to the driver.
3. Why is it important to secure driving cabs.
To prevent unauthorised cab access.
4. Why is it important to set the DRA when leaving or entering a cab?
Its a Rule Book requirement when leaving a cab.
Reminds the driver to check the signal indication.
Reminds the driver that the previous signal was at restrictive.
5. What are your actions if an item is left on the train?
If it is suspicious:
1) Evacuate the area
2) Don’t use mobile phone near it
3) Call for emergency services
4) Tell platform staff
6. What is meant by the term HOT protocols?
Hidden - Is the item hidden away
Obviously suspicious
Typical - is typical of its surroundings
7. Why is it important to check the position of the brake controller before inserting drive’s key?
So that the train does not roll in any direction if started in forward or reverse and brake is in release.
8. Explain your actions if the PIS will not set up.
1) Trip Reset x3
2) Use the PA system
3) Set up from middle or end cab
4) Inform signaller/control
9. Explain your action if GSMR equipment will not register?
Shut down the desk and try again.
Trip/Reset mcb x3
You can enter service if it’s showing GSMR-GB on the screen.
Use the 5 digit gsmr number to register or contact signaller.
10. Explain your actions if the relieving driver is not present at the designated location?
1) Call signaller
2) Make PA
3) Call control and follow instructions.
-You may be asked to do overtime, remind them of your driving hours (HIDDEN report)
