Electrophysiology Terms T-Z Flashcards
T wave
representing repolarization of the ventricular myocardium
Telemetry
the ability of a device to receive data
Tilt Table Testing
Technique used to provoke neurocardioenic syncope in susceptible patients
Torsades de pointes
a form of polymorphic ventricular tachycardia
Transseptal
a procedure which gains access to the left side of the heart
Transvenous
inserted or performed through a vein
Underlying Rhythm
the basic intrinsic rhythm on which the paced rate or certain arrhythmias may be superimposed
Unipolar
having one pole
VA interval
the interval between the onset of a paced ventricular sensed event and the conducted retrograde P wave
Valsalva maneuver
Voluntary forced exhalation against a closed glottis; used to terminate SVT that has the AV node as part of its circuit
Venous Cut - Down
a surgical procedure used to visually access a vein. Used for insertion of an endocardial lead
Ventricular Capture
Depolarization of the ventricles following the delivery of a pacemaker output pulse
Volt
the force with which electrical current is driven. Pulse amplitude is stated in volts
Wenckebach
Devices: upper rate pacemaker behavior resulting in the progressive lengthening of the PV interval, until the P wave coincides with the PVARP resulting in the P wave not being sensed
Wolff - Parkinson - White Syndrome
A common type of pre - excitation syndrome, it is abnormal condition in which impulses enter the ventricles from the atria though an accessory pathway
